Minecraft is a sandbox video game created by Markus "Notch" Persson, and later developed and published by Mojang. It was publicly released for the PC on May 17, 2009.

The game has no specific goals to accomplish, allowing players a large amount of freedom in choosing how to play the game. However, the primary objective of Minecraft is to collect resources and craft them into a variety of items in order to make the player survive.

Minecraft is a video game where players can construct their own worlds in a blocky 3-D environment. The game is about mining various types of blocks and then using them to create different objects. The players can either use the blocks to build structures, or they can make sculptures and other objects to decorate their worlds. The player can also interact with the world by damaging or destroying blocks, mobs, or other players.

Gameplay

Gameplay consists of three major modes: Creative, Survival, and Hardcore. In Creative mode, players have access to unlimited blocks and items, and can fly around the game world. Survival mode, the game's default mode, has players constructing a shelter to protect themselves from monsters, while trying to acquire enough resources to make the basic items they need to survive. Hardcore mode is similar to Survival mode, but features higher difficulty, e.g. there are no trees, the player must eat to survive, and the difficulty increases as the player moves away from the spawn point.

Minecraft is a sandbox game, meaning the player can do anything they want and the game will not stop them. The player can either work together with other players or work by themselves. Some players, often referred to as "crafters" spend their time building structures and houses, while others, often referred to as "builders" spend their time building castles and other types of structures.

Minecraft is an open game, meaning that there are no limits on what the player can do. The player can explore the world, battle mobs, and mine blocks. The player can also collect resources such as ores and food items to survive the harsh conditions of the game.

Graphics

Minecraft's graphics are made of voxels (volumetric pixels). These pixels allow for a large number of varying heights and colors, and the player's view distance is generally limited in most games by the number of blocks that can be rendered. The maximum number of blocks that can be rendered is twenty times the number of blocks wide by twenty times the number of blocks high.

Replayability

Minecraft has a high replayability value because of the "survival" style of gameplay. Minecraft is a sandbox game, so there is no point where the player can beat the game. The game is about exploration and survival. With each iteration of the game, new and different mobs and ores are added, and the player is able to explore different areas of the game.
